Cirrus Logic (Nasdaq: CRUS) and Analog Devices (Nasdaq: ADI) are on watch following reports that chip suppliers to Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) are starting to book production capacity at foundry and back-end partners.
Digitimes said Thursday that the two chipmakers, along with others, have requested that foundry and back-end partners reserve a "significant" portion of production capacity in Q2 and Q3 of this year.
Taiwan Semi (NYSE: TSM) is expected to take in the lion's share of A10 chip orders, which will run Apple's iPhone 7 (tentative name). Volume production of the processors is expected to commence in Q2.
Shares of Cirrus and Analog Devices are positive Friday afternoon.
