Baidu, Inc. (Nasdaq: BIDU) shares are lower in early trading following a report that Chinese Internet users are moving to boycott using the search engine.
According to Quartz, users are boycotting Baidu after finding out that the search giant was "giving chronically ill users biased information through its chat rooms, known as “post bar” services."
Users noted that one of the illness forum "bar owners," or moderators, had been sold the position and was using it to advertise sketchy medical facilities, while deleting critical comments about them.
One other bar owner on a hemophilia group said he and others were removed without notice.
Users are now anticipating a return of Google, which left the country in 2010. It's not clear when Google would re-enter China.
