Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) supposed "car unit" recently attended a major industry event.
According to 9to5mac, Apple's Sixty Eight Research, US, was at the 17th Global Car Body Benchmarking Conference in Germany.
Sixty Eight Research is allegedly Apple's secret operating that runs its automotive program.
The event focuses on automotive body manufacturing, painting, and assembly. Apple may opt to outsource its car manufacturing operations to an established manufacturer, or it may have the cars assembled in China.
9to5mac also noted that, while just about every major automotive manufacturer from BMW to Honda was at the event, Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) was surprisingly absent.
