The Advanced Imaging Society Bestows 16 Awards for 6th Annual Technology and New Products at Ceremony Held at Paramount Pictures Studios

Technicolor, Barco, Jaunt, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Nokia, MasterImage 3D, AMD Among Those Honored

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Advanced Imaging Society presented its top annual honors for achievement in technical achievement today at a luncheon ceremony held at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood.

The Society’s Lumiere statuettes were presented to companies and products for having achieved both “innovation and impact” in moving the entertainment industry forward.

Honored with gold Lumiere statuettes were: AMD, Barco, Jaunt, Legend 3D (wins 2 Lumiere statuettes), Lucid VR, MasterImage 3D, Nokia, ONSIGHT, Prime Focus World, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., StreamTV, SuperD and Technicolor. Global 3D Media and NCAM were honored with New Product Awards.

“This year’s honorees reflected the changing nature of media and entertainment,” said Society Awards Chair Buzz Hays, Studio Chief, True Image Company. “Virtual Reality, light field image capture, faster software and game platform advancements are taking VR into the market quickly,” he stated. “Theatrically, new cinema and High Dynamic Range systems are going to increase the impact and excitement of going to the movies,” he added.

  • ONSIGHT (UK) – Compact, High Resolution, 360-Degree Live Action Capture System
  • Prime Focus World - DeepGen
  • Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. – PlayStation®VR
  • StreamTV - Ultra-D Glasses Free 3D Technology
  • SuperD (China) - 3D Box
  • Technicolor - Intelligent Tone Management HDR Solution

2015 New Product Awards were presented to:

  • Global 3D Media - EXD Autostereo 3D Screen Series
  • NCAM (UK) – NCAM Camera Tracking System

“Consumers are going to be experiencing firsthand many of these exciting new technologies soon,” commented Society President Jim Chabin. “An exciting array of new, premium entertainment experiences are being ushered in and these are the technologies which are taking us there,” Chabin added.

The AIS 6th Annual Technology and New Product Awards took place on this same day as it held its annual “ConTech” Seminar on High Dynamic Range and Virtual Reality. The conference was produced in partnership with The National Association of Broadcasters and presented by Nokia. The event brought together content professionals and executives tasked with managing the next generation of content technologies emerging in the marketplace in 2016. The seminar was open to entertainment industry professionals and was held at the Paramount Pictures Studios Paramount Theater in Hollywood.
