PLANO, Texas, Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As the largest pizza company in the world, Pizza Hut is focused on delivering flavorful, innovative food around the globe. But Pizza Hut isn't just in the business of delivering pizza – it also strives to deliver hope to those in need with its annual World Hunger Relief campaign to benefit the U.N. World Food Programme (WFP).

Through its World Hunger Relief program, now in its ninth year, Pizza Hut is encouraging customers to donate directly to WFP's fight against world hunger. Through Nov. 14, customers can donate at more than 6,300 restaurants nationwide and online at PizzaHut.com. New this year, members of the Pizza Hut email program can receive 20% off their order immediately when they donate $3 or more to the World Hunger Relief campaign.

Simply by adding a small donation to any Pizza Hut order, customers can help provide life-saving food to those who need it most. Just $1 feeds four children, $3 can feed two children for a week, $5 feeds a child for a month and $10 feeds an entire classroom for a day.

"Hunger remains a global health issue, and we recognize that as the world's largest pizza company, we can have an impact on helping end the hunger crisis," said David Gibbs, CEO, Pizza Hut. "Our team members and customers, along with the World Food Programme, will work together to raise awareness and support through our long-standing World Hunger Relief program."

Since the initiative began in 2007, Pizza Hut has helped raise more than $15 million through donations. In 2014, the pizza company saw a 74 percent increase in online donations and helped raise more than $2 million in the United States alone which served more than 8 million meals to children in need. Brands has raised more than $600 million in monetary and food donations, resulting in more than 2.4 billion meals for hungry people around the world. This year YUM! aims to provide more than 16 million meals to ensure more children get the nourishment they need to stay in school. Yum!'s World Hunger Relief effort is the world's largest private sector hunger relief initiative, spanning more than 125 countries and territories, over 40,000 KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants and 1.5 million associates.
