Twitter (TWTR) Should Step Its Interactivity Game up with Additional Emoticons

With Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) moving to implement a "dislike" or "empathy" button, is it about time for Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) to do the same?
If you use the desktop version of Twitter, you're pretty much limited to a few things to show you appreciate a post: retweet the item to your timeline, retweet with a comment, simply comment, or click a "star" () icon to favorite a post.
Should Twitter add another dimension to its interactivity?
Say you could like, or dislike, or feel sad, or one of several other emoticons that could be used for certain news items or statuses. Those could be reflected to the original poster of the content and then also be added to separate categories for the user. Each "like" would go into memory under the user's "like" category, "dislike" to the "dislike" one, and so on.
The addition of different buttons could help retain users (people might go back and read/share/watch what they found "funny" at a later date, for instance) and also provide Twitter with additional data when it comes to selling ads.
Adding everything to a "favorites" list is just so...cluttered.
Of course, this is just one of many things Twitter could do to improve its Internet browser platform, but if Facebook is doing it, it might be something worth considering.
Shares of Twitter are down 0.9 percent after being down as much as 5.2 percent on Thursday.
