Google (Nasdaq: GOOG)(Nasdaq: GOOGL) is looking to keep Amazon's (Nasdaq: AMZN) grocery delivery hopes in check starting later this year.

According to Bloomberg, Google is going to start testing a fresh-food-and-grocery-delivery service in two cities -- San Francisco and a to-be-determined location -- via its Google Express segment. Google Express currently allows for the delivery of dry foods and other merchandise to customers.

Expected partners for the fresh food delivery service include Costco (Nasdaq: COST) and Whole Foods (Nasdaq: WFM), among others.

The current market for fresh grocery delivery is about $10.9 billion, which is expected to grow 9.6 percent annually through 2019, according to a recent IbisWorld report.

Amazon launched AmazonFresh in several U.S. cities recently and has also begun to test one-hour alcohol delivery in Seattle, Wash.

Shares of Google and Amazon are both positive Tuesday.
