Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) is said to have a user base exceeding 50 million users in the U.S. (whom access their accounts at least once per month), but the social media site might need to step its advertising game up if it plans to capture more revenue from said users.
According to eMarketer, citing data from a recent Cowen and Company survey, about 60 percent of Twitter's users believe ads from the site aren't relevant or are a poor fit. Only 3.1 percent said ads were relevant and insightful.
But, Twitter has moved to combat this issue. The company recently partnered with Google's DoubleClick and also recently acquired TellApart, both are platforms aimed at enhancing relevancy of advertisements to users.
Shares of Twitter are down 0.2 percent. The company is expected to post Q2 results after markets close today.
