Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) is taking a new spin on how authors are compensated as it looks for more quality content.
According to Reuters, Amazon could pay authors for each page of their publication that is read. This is a twist on the current method of paying for each time the book is borrowed.
Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing platform allows authors to list prices, edit the book, and decide rights for the book at anytime.
In a posting to its publishing site today, Amazon said, We're making this switch in response to great feedback we received from authors.
Shares of Amazon are up 0.5 percent.
