Altera (Nasdaq: ALTR) is in focus once again Friday following reports that Intel (Nasdaq: INTC) is nearing a $15 billion deal for the company.
The NY Post said late Thursday that Intel could offer $54 per share for Altera, which would be a 15 percent premium from Altera's closing from of $46.97 on Thursday.
Altera was said to reject a similar offer from Intel a few months back, but that came ahead of the company's disappointing Q1 report.
The deal, if done, would be the largest for Intel and would help the chip giant move away from PC chips at a faster rate.
Shares of Altera are up over 8.5 percent in early trading.
