Google (GOOG) Said Exploring Next-Gen Battery Technology at Google X Lab

Google (Nasdaq: GOOG)(Nasdaq: GOOGL) is said to be exploring battery technology at its Google X lab.

UPDATE - According to the WSJ, Google's battery initiative is being led by former Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) battery expert, Dr. Ramesh Bhardwaj.

Google X began testing battery technology in late 2012 and started to research potential battery technologies that Google might begin to use one year later.

Bhardwaj has said that Google has around 20 battery-dependent projects in development, from the autonomous car to wearable devices.
