Instinet analyst, Jessica Schoen-Mace, reiterated her Neutral rating on shares of Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT) after updating her grocery pricing study from our last check in mid-October. The analyst believes that success in the fresh food category is critical to drive traffic and attract new customers for the broadline retailers, and that a significant market share opportunity exists since the category has been slower to shift online.
During its last earnings call, WMT cited the expansion of online grocery to >100 markets and continued outperformance in customer count and basket size. No change to the price target of $81.
