Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) analyst Trip Chowdhry from Global Equities Research called the fatal autopilot crash a "non-event" from a stock perspective.
Chowdhry highlighted:
- Tesla has accumulated more at 100 million miles on Auto-Pilot, and is now doing 1.0 million miles every 10 hours;
- This is an order of magnitude more than Google driverless cars, which have so far accumulated only 1.5 million miles since its inception
- Tesla’s Autopilot program is deployed on over 70,000 privately owned Tesla vehicles
- Tesla vehicles with self-driving hardware have driven 780 million miles since Oct, 2014, out of which 100 million miles are driven with Auto Pilot being active
- Tesla cars driven on autopilot mode tend to tightly adhere to the road lanes as opposed to manual driving
