RBC Capital Internet analyst, Mark Mahaney, issued his Top Ten Internet Surprises For 2016. A "surprise", according to the analyst, is an event that the average Internet investor things is highly improbable, but they believe has a reasonable chance (30%+) of occurring.
1. The Mega-Unicorns Go Public. The market assumes that the likes of Uber, Airbnb, Spotify, Snapchat, Dropbox, Pinterest, Lyft, etc…are waiting until 2017 or later to go public, the analyst noted.
2. Facebook enters China. (NASDAQ: FB)
3. More Dividends Get Paid Out In The Internet Sector. Currently only IAC (NASDAQ: IACI) and Expedia (NASDAQ: EXPE) pay a dividend. Mananey said based on their business models and cash positions others like Priceline (NASDAQ: PCLN), (NASDAQl: GOOGL), eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY) and Yahoo! (NASDAQ: YHOO) could follow suit.

5. EBAY’s GMV Begins To Decline (NASDAQ: EBAY)
