Goldman Sachs expects July core PCE to rise 0.23%

Investing.com -- Goldman Sachs forecasts a 0.23% increase in core Personal Consumption Expenditures prices for July, slightly above the 0.22% core Consumer Price Index reading and somewhat higher than current consensus expectations.

The investment bank attributes this projection largely to portfolio management services, which it expects to contribute 8 basis points through a 4% increase. This reflects equity price gains during the second quarter, despite a decline in June, the reference period for July PCE calculations.

Goldman Sachs notes that some asset managers providing source data for the Producer Price Index series used in PCE calculations report revenues on a quarterly basis.

Trump: The U.S.A. has total control over over the Strait of Hormuz. I THINK WE WILL KEEP IT! Our Naval Blockade is being called, by everyone, “A WALL OF STEEL,” and there is nothing Iran can do about it. They have no Navy, they have no Air Force, their remaining soldiers are unpaid, the IRGC is decimated and fleeing, and their “Leadership” is uncertain, at best! They have No Money - Their country is “shot.” All they have is FAKE NEWS and 300% INFLATION, and getting worse! Iran is all talk and no action, the Bully of the Middle East

BTIG’s Krinsky says risk/reward for equities looks ‘quite poor’

Invetsing.com -- U.S. stocks face greater downside risk than bonds ahead of Wednesday’s consumer price inflation report, as equities have rallied despite rising Treasury yields over the past month, BTIG said in a note on Tuesday.

The research firm said investors have little edge in predicting either the CPI reading or the market’s immediate reaction, but argued that current positioning creates an asymmetric setup across asset classes. Since the previous CPI report on July 14, 30-year Treasury yields have risen about 13 basis points while U.S. equities have gained roughly 3%, suggesting bonds have priced in more inflation concern than stocks.

A hotter-than-expected
