Yahoo (YHOO) Pursues Talks With New Partners

July 3, 2008 7:43 AM EDT

This morning The Wall Street Journal reported that Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO) is in discussions with Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) discussing a possible combination. The two companies are talking about a structure they began discussing months ago -- an arrangement whereby Time Warner would fold AOL into Yahoo and take a minority stake in the combined venture.

News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) is also paying attention to Yahoo's moves. Microsoft is may craft another Yahoo deal, partly in response to Yahoo's talks with other possible partners, the WSJ says. Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) has spoken to News Corp. about possibly joining forces on some form of a Yahoo deal.
