Verrex Corporation Selects Blue Coat for WAN Optimization to Branch Offices and Remote Employees
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: BCSI), the leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that Verrex Corporation, a premier audiovisual integration firm, has selected Blue Coat(R) ProxySG(R) appliances and Blue Coat(R) ProxyClient(R) software to accelerate a key customer service and management application and file access to AutoCAD and Microsoft Office files for branch offices and remote employees. By deploying Blue Coat appliances in branch offices and software for employees working in the field, Verrex can provide headquarters-like application performance for users outside the corporate office.
"Providing our employees with fast access to files and applications directly translates to the responsiveness and quality of our customer service," said George Bird, director of Information Technology, Verrex Corporation. "Blue Coat delivered an end-to-end solution that accelerates files and applications to branch offices and remote employees, extending the performance and responsiveness of a headquarters experience to users in any location."
Verrex uses a customized help desk application based on Saleslogix software to ensure a high-quality service experience for customers. The company's field and service technicians rely on this application for scheduling, handling service tickets, maintaining service notes and history and managing customer relationships. With Blue Coat ProxySG appliances and ProxyClient software, the service application runs up to 7 times faster, enabling technicians in the field to work more efficiently. The acceleration is especially evident over Internet connections using a wireless card seated in the employee's PC.
Verrex employees often need to remotely access centrally-stored AutoCAD drawings, supporting documents and other files relating to customer installations. Access time to open or save these files can be up to 10 times faster using the Blue Coat solutions.
In addition, all Verrex employees have a log-in script run on their computers when they first connect to the network. The script synchronizes content from the user's computer to a file server for backup purposes and provides network administration functions. With the use of ProxyClient this process can run ten times faster for remote employees, alleviating a source of worker frustration and getting employees operational much faster.
"WAN optimization today means that enterprises need to accelerate applications and file access to remote employees as well as to branch offices," said Steve Rowland, vice president of sales, North America, Blue Coat Systems. "Through a combination of our ProxySG appliances and ProxyClient software, Blue Coat can make a dramatic improvement in a company's overall operations by reaching the entire organization with a solution for visibility, acceleration and control."
