The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR) has been informed that associates who are members of United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 1059 in Columbus, Ohio have ratified a new labor agreement with the Company.
"This agreement maintains quality jobs and affordable health care for our associates and their families and keeps Kroger competitive," said Bruce Macaulay, president of Kroger's Columbus division. "Our associates focused on providing great service to our customers during this process and we appreciate their efforts."
The new agreement covers more than 11,000 Kroger associates who work in 87 stores in and around Columbus.
Kroger, one of the nation's largest retail grocery chains, is honored to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2008.
