BGC Partners upgrades Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) from Hold to Buy and increases the price target from $29 to $30. The firm cites a possible dividend increase.

The firm says, "Microsoft currently pays a quarterly dividend of $0.13/quarter that provides a yield of 2.1%. Given the company has a history of lifting its dividend in the month of September as its operating income grows – we expect a 15% increase in its quarterly dividend to $0.15 is likely." BGC also notes, "The PC refresh cycle remains compelling and should last another 8 quarters in our opinion – as the average enterprise PC is 4.4 years and 74% of business computers using XP, according to Microsoft."

With shares of Microsoft up 1.7% to $24.82 today, BGC's new price target suggests potential upside of almost 21%.
