Zuckerberg Gets Some Street Cred from the Big Man

October 24, 2011 3:23 PM EDT
While his company is still not public, Mark Zuckerberg just got a boat load of "street cred" from a notable source.

The late Steve Jobs said he admired the Facebook co-founder for "not selling out."

Discussing Zuckerberg in tapes from biographer Walter Isaacson, Jobs said:

"You know we talk about social networks in the plural but I don't see anybody other than Facebook out there. It's just Facebook - they're dominating this. I admire Mark Zuckerberg. I only know him a little bit, but I admire him for not selling out. For wanting to make a company. I admire that a lot."

Steve Jobs' (Nasdaq: AAPL) thoughts on Zuckerberg were revealed in a 60 Minutes interview with Isaacson.

Jobs also discussed rivals Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Google (Nasdaq: GOOG), saying "They just don't get it."

"Microsoft never had the humanities and the liberal arts in the DNA; it was pure technology company, and they just didn't get it," Jobs said. "Google's the same way. They just don't get it."
