The solar sector has been sitting back and soaking up the rays recently as analysts and companies have had nothing but good things to say. The sector, as measured by the Claymore Global Solar ETF (NYSE: TAN), is up nearly 5 percent Friday morning.

- Sunpower (Nasdaq: SPWR) posted stronger than expected Q4 earnings last night following the closing bell. The stock is up 19.5 percent at last check.
- Suntech (NYSE: STP) offered solid preliminary Q4 results and revised shipment guidance. Shares up 11.3 percent.
- Collins Stewart believes things have turned around for First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR) in regards to its Antelope Valley Solar Ranch project. The stock is up 8 percent.
- Canadian Solar (Nasdaq: CSIQ) up 15.5 percent
- Hanwha Solarone (Nasdaq: HSOL) 11.5 percent
- ReneSola (NYSE: SOL) up 8.5 percent
