Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) is seeing strong action off the open today. Shares are up 3.8%. News today that the company bid for NFL rights and news yesterday about project lightning, suggests the company is not sitting idle despite the CEO transition.
Takeover rumors also continue to swirl around the name, although early investor Chris Sacca said he hopes the company remains independent. Recently an interesting notion of a takeover by IBM (NYSE: IBM) was being mentioned in the market, although Google, Apple, Facebook and Microsoft appear to be the most logical bidders. Yahoo! could also be interested, although it would be a bit much to chew off for Marrissa Mayer and team.
Rumors also suggests an activist investor could get involved to push the process along. Market chatter suggests it might be right in Dan Loeb's wheelhouse after the success he saw with Yahoo! a few years back.
