March 18, 2014 8:18 AM EDT
Shares of Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ: MSFT) are moving modestly higher in pre-open trade Tuesday (+0.8%) on reports from Bloomberg that new CEO Satya Nadella will debut the company's version of Office for Apple's (NASDAQ: AAPL) iPad at an event to be held March 27 in San Francisco. In addition, Nadella is expected to unveil his vision for the company.

The company's Office for iPad is expected to have limited capabilities and include an option for a premium version requiring a subscription to the company's Office 365 product.

The Office iPad event will be Nadella's first public product rollout since taking the reigns from Steve Ballmer last month. At the event, it is expected he will discuss the company's commitment to software services that work on the Windows operating system as well as rival operating systems, including Apple's.
