Gold Higher as Israel Prepares Response to Teen Deaths (GLD)
Gold and gold miner stocks gained on Monday, with SPDR Gold Trust (NYSE: GLD) extending 1% in mid-afternoon trading. Gains appear in part tied to fears about increased violence in the Middle East after the bodies of three missing Israeli teenagers were found after an abduction two weeks ago by Hamas militants. Israel's Cabinet plans to meet today to discuss a response, as the country mourns.
