UPDATE: VIX Hits Session Highs, Now up 20%; Talk of Threats of Attacks on NYPD

The Volatility Index, or VIX, advanced 20% to 19.25. The move does not appear to be driven by fundamentals, but there are some off the radar reports in NY Post about threats against the NYPD and mayor.

The article discusses tweets captioned "Kill a Pig Night" and "New Year's Eve Massacre of 2014." It is unknown if the story and the spike in VIX are related. The original NY Post is here.
