Wastewater Treatment and Reclamation in Silicon Processing Operations
PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Pall Corporation (NYSE: PLL), a global leader in filtration, separation and purification, announced today that Dr. Vivien Krygier, Ph.D., senior vice president of marketing for Pall Microelectronics, will present a technical paper at the ULTRAPURE WATER Micro 2009 conference. The paper, co-authored with Dr. Rolf Berndt, a Pall global technical marketing director, is titled Wastewater Treatment and Reclamation from Silicon Processing Operations in the Photovoltaic and Semiconductor Industries. The conference will be held in Portland, Oregon on November 4-5.
Both the photovoltaic (PV) and semiconductor industries require large amounts of water for silicon ingot preshaping, wafer cleaning (post sawing) and silicon backgrinding/dicing. "To help our customers meet the three 'Rs' - reclaim, recycle, reuse - of water conservation and green manufacturing, we have developed a fully automated, dynamic membrane filtration system to treat waste streams more economically than most conventional methods," Dr. Krygier said.
The presentation will focus on how different wastewater characteristics (solid content, particle size) influence the selection of reclaim technologies. Dr. Krygier will also discuss the details of process design and sizing based on case studies in PV and semiconductor manufacturing.
