Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: VNDA) 67.6% LOWER; received a not approvable letter from the FDA in response to its New Drug Application for iloperidone, an investigational atypical antipsychotic that was reviewed for the treatment of schizophrenia.

U.S. Shipping Partners (NYSE: USS) 45.5% HIGHER; since July 15, shares of U.S. Shipping have only had 1 down day out of 10 trading days. Since that day, the stock is up more than 250%.

Silicom Ltd. (NASDAQ: SILC) 27.6% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.05, versus $0.25 in Q207. Revenues for the quarter were $5.2 million, compared to $6.6 million in the same quarter last year.

TurboChef Technologies (Nasdaq: OVEN) 27.1% HIGHER; Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) announced late Friday that it will keep selling breakfast sandwiches at its stores, reversing a previously announced initiative to take these products out of its retail locations.

Ryanair (Nasdaq: RYAAY) 24.3% LOWER; this morning, the company issued an earnings warning, citing rising fuel costs and less in customer fares.

Mine Safety Appliances (NYSE: MSA) 20.7% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.56, 4 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.60. Revenues for the quarter were $ million, versus the consensus of $274.78 million.

Mechel (NYSE: MTL) 20.5% LOWER; is under pressure again on news out of Russia that regulators are insisting the company must be punished for price fixing. The head of Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service said Mechel must be fined for selling steel in Russia at twice the price it used for exports.

EnergySouth, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENSI) 18.2% HIGHER; Sempra Energy (NYSE: SRE) and EnergySouth, Inc. announced a definitive merger agreement for Sempra Energy to acquire EnergySouth for $510 million in cash. Shareholders of EnergySouth will receive $61.50 per share for their EnergySouth stock.

BioCryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: BCRX) 16.8% HIGHER; today announced preliminary results of a Phase II study of intravenous peramivir administered via a single dose injection in the outpatient setting for the treatment of seasonal influenza. The trial met its primary endpoint of improvement in the median time to alleviation of symptoms in subjects with confirmed, acute, uncomplicated influenza infection, compared to placebo alone. This result was highly statistically significant.

VeriFone Holdings Inc. (NYSE: PAY) 13.3% HIGHER; plans to file its amended and restated quarterly report on Form 10-Q/A for the fiscal quarters ended January 31, 2007, April 30, 2007 and July 31, 2007, its annual report on Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended October 31, 2007 and its quarterly reports on Form 10-Q for the fiscal quarters ended January 31, 2008 and April 30, 2008 with the Securities and Exchange Commission on August 19, 2008.

Amgen Inc. (Nasdaq: AMGN) 12.5% HIGHER; positive top-line results for denosumab in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Notably, analysts at Morgan Stanley, Rodman & Renshaw, Jefferies, and Morgan Joseph all upgraded the stock today.
