Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: SOMX) 29.4% HIGHER; spiking today amid no company-specific news. SeekingAlpha.com did a short write-up on the stock earlier, which could be driving upside.

Hemispherx BioPharma (AMEX: HEB) 28% LOWER; sinking today amid the company's conference call to discuss recent Influenze research initiatives. Hemispherx said it is targeting 25-50 million doses of Ampligen per year, as well as at least 100 million doses of Alferon LDO at capacity, two initiatives which are expected to cost the company about $10 million.

Onyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ONXX) 25.3% HIGHER; Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals and Onyx Pharma today announced that their first cooperative group-sponsored randomized Phase 2 trial in advanced metastatic breast cancer met its primary endpoint of progression-free survival. The study evaluated Nexavar(R) (sorafenib) tablets in combination with the oral chemotherapeutic, capecitabine, in patients with locally advanced or metastatic HER-2 negative breast cancer. Orexigen Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: OREX) 20% HIGHER; seeing follow-through momentum from Monday, when the company reported all three of its remaining trials on Contrave met their primary endpoints. Shares of Orexigen have already jumped 56% this week.

Oriental Financial Group (NYSE: OFG) 17.6% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $2.04, versus the analyst estimate of $0.64.

Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (NYSE: ATI) 17.5% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.03, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.03. Revenue for the quarter was $710 million, versus the consensus of $816.58 million.

Gentex (Nasdaq: GNTX) 17.3% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.09, 4 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.05. Revenue for the quarter was $117.3 million, versus the consensus of $115 million.

Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD) 13% LOWER; reports Q2 loss of $0.49, (including a $0.13 favorable impact), or a loss of $0.62, versus the analyst estimate of ($0.47). Revenue for the quarter was $1.184 billion, versus the consensus of $1.13 billion.

Supertex (Nasdaq: SUPX) 12.9% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.13, 4 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.09. Revenue for the quarter was $13.6 million, versus the consensus of $15.91 million.

Pharmaceutical Product Development (Nasdaq: PPDI) 12.8% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS from continuing operations of $0.33, 4 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.29. Revenue for the quarter was $355.2 million, versus the consensus of $334.38 million.
