Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 6/10: HIRE, SURG, AMSC, WM Higher; PNCL, CMGI, CCRT, SNCR Lower

HireRight (Nasdaq: HIRE) 44.7% HIGHER; To be acauired by US Investigations Services, LLC for $15.60 per share in cash.

Synergetics USA, Inc. (NASDAQ: SURG) 33.5% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.05, versus $0.00 in Q307. Revenues for the quarter were $13.5 million, compared to $11.5 million in the same quarter last year.

Pinnacle Airlines Corp. (NASDAQ: PNCL) 29.3% LOWER; reported that its Pinnacle Airlines, Inc. subsidiary has been notified by Delta Air Lines of Delta's intent to terminate Pinnacle's contract as a Delta Connection carrier, effective July 31.

American Superconductor Corporation (Nasdaq: AMSC) 23.9% HIGHER; received a $450 million order from Beijing-based Sinovel Wind Corporation Limited for core electrical components for 1.5 megawatt (MW) wind turbines. The contract calls for shipments to begin in January 2009 and increase in amount year-over-year through the contract's completion in December 2011.

CMGI (Nasdaq: CMGI) 23.1% LOWER; reports a Q3 loss of $0.05, versus the analyst estimate of $0.08. Revenues for the quarter were $239.2 million, versus the consensus of $282.10 million. Narrows FY08 sales from $1.05-$1.15 billion to $1.05-$1.10 billion, versus the consensus of $1.11 billion.

CompuCredit (Nasdaq: CCRT) 21% LOWER; a WSJ article published earlier called CompuCredit the "target of FDIC and FTC probes". The article said regulators are expected to seek at least $100 million in fines and restitution from the company and its affiliates related to credit-card marketing and debt-collection practices. Just after noon, CompuCredit issued a press release saying "The claims asserted by the FTC and FDIC in settlement negotiations regarding CompuCredit's past credit card marketing practices are untrue and without merit", although the announcement failed to cause a bounce in stock price.

Synchronoss Technologies (Nasdaq: SNCR) 13.6% LOWER; related to Apple's unveiling of the 3G iPhone yesterday, Synchronoss said that it will continues its relationship with AT&T (NYSE: T), but will not participate in the on-site, retail store activations associated with the 3G iPhone. However, this news is not new: Synchronoss made the announcement earlier when it lowered its Q1 guidance because of the development. Deutsche Bank released a research report considering today's sell-off and maintained its Buy rating.

Washington Mutual (NYSE: WM) 13% HIGHER; shares have been absolutely taken out to the shed since the beginning of May: in 26 trading days, WaMu has been down 22 days. This gradual decline has been intensified over the last two trading days, down about 27% since Thursday's closing price. With lots of recent downside, shorts may be feeling like hogs and appear to be taking profits today.

Uranium Resources (Nasdaq: URRE) 13% LOWER; yesterday announced a delay in the startup of its Rosita wellfield as a result of a number of aquifer related technical issues. Shares sold-off about 9% yesterday and are continuing to see downside today.

United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI) 11.9% HIGHER; approved a "modified Dutch auction" tender offer in which the company intends to offer to purchase up to 27,160,000 shares of its common stock at a price not less than $22.00 nor greater than $25.00 per share. The low and high ends of the price range represent a 12.8% and 28.2% premium, respectively, to yesterday's $19.50 per share closing price for the common stock.

Amtech Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASYS) 10% HIGHER; announced that its solar subsidiary, Tempress Systems, Inc., has received $8.5 million in new solar orders for its diffusion processing systems.
