Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 4/7: WM, DXCM, WLK, TGIC Higher; BWTR, MESA, SCSC, EVVV Lower
Washington Mutual (NYSE: WM) 24.5% HIGHER; According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, private equity firm TPG and others are close to a deal to invest $5 billion in embattled savings and loan Washington Mutual. The new funds will help lift capital pressure at the company, which has seen massive losses due to the subprime crisis.
DexCom (Nasdaq: DXCM) 22.3% HIGHER; after seeing a 6% gain to close last week's trading session, shares of DexCom are still seeing upside pressure today. Notably, Piper Jaffray added DexCom to its Alpha List on April 1. After today's spike, if investors would have acted on the firm's investment suggestion, they would be bagging a quick 30% gain.
Westlake Chemical (NYSE: WLK) 20.3% HIGHER; upgraded at UBS from Neutral to Buy.
Triad Guaranty (Nasdaq: TGIC) 18.6% HIGHER; appears to be correcting today after last week's drastic 50% decline from above $5.
Centerplate (AMEX: CVP) 18.5% HIGHER; after falling more than 60% from about $10 to under $4 last week, shares of Centerplate are seeing some much needed upward momentum today.
Basin Water (NASDAQ: BWTR) 18.9% LOWER; may be reacting to a negative article at Citron Research. Citron notes that Basin Water is bleeding cash and is "fabricating their own customers with the intention of committing fraud on the marketplace and enabling insiders to dump millions of dollars worth of stock."

LifeCell Corporation (NASDAQ: LIFC) 16.8% HIGHER; Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (NYSE: KCI) and LifeCell Corporation announced that they have signed a definitive agreement whereby KCI will acquire LifeCell for $51.00 per share, or $1.7 billion in cash.
Mesa Air Group (Nasdaq: MESA) 14.2% LOWER; shares of Mesa continue to decline this week after falling about 50% from around $2.36 at the beginning of last week.
Syntroleum (Nasdaq: SYNM) 12.5% LOWER; is giving up some gains today after climbing nearly 80% last week.
ScanSource, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCSC) 10.9% LOWER; announced that sales results for its quarter ended March 31, 2008, are expected to be in range of $509 to $515 million, which is below the consensus of $562.6 million.
ev3 Inc. (Nasdaq: EVVV) 10.8% LOWER; announced the appointment of Robert J. Palmisano as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director, effective immediately. Dan Levangie, a current ev3 director and the Lead Independent Director, has been appointed non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Palmisano and Mr. Levangie succeed James M. Corbett, who has resigned as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
