Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 4/29: ORS, TSON, LEA, NWA Higher; GIL, IVAC, LCAV, DGII Lower

Gildan Activewear (NYSE: GIL) 28.8% LOWER; sees Q2 adj-EPS of about $0.35, which is lower than its previously issued guidance of $0.42 and versus the Street consensus of $0.42. Also lowers its FY08 guidance from $1.85-$1.90 to $1.45-$1.50, versus the consensus of $1.90.

Orsus Xelent Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: ORS) 26.7% HIGHER; announced that it expects to see FY08 revenues in the range of $120-$130 million, compared to sales of $89.9 million last year. Orsus also sees its FY08 net income growing 50% to $14.5-$15.5 million, compared to $9.7 million in 2007.

Intevac, Inc. (Nasdaq: IVAC) 21.7% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.07 versus the analyst estimate of $0.02 loss - may not be comparable. Revenues for the quarter were $33.2 million, versus the consensus of $31.76 million. Piper Jaffray also downgraded Intevac to Sell earlier.

TranS1 Inc. (Nasdaq: TSON) 21.4% HIGHER; has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its AxiaLIF 2L, two level percutaneous lumbar fusion system, in the United States. The AxiaLIF 2L is designed to treat degenerative disc disease at both the L5-S1 and L4-L5 lumbar discs through a single, one and a half inch incision.

LCA Vision (Nasdaq: LCAV) 17.9% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.37, 11 cents below the analyst estimate of $0.48. Revenues for the quarter were $79.6 million, versus the consensus of $86.21 million. I guess lasik is not as popular in '08.

Digi International Inc. (Nasdaq: DGII) 17.9% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.12, below the analyst estimate of $0.15. Revenues for the quarter were $43.1 million, versus the consensus of $46.97 million. Sees FY08 revs of $180-$192 million, versus the consensus of $197.2 million. Sees FY08 EPS of $0.46-$0.62, ex-items, versus the consensus of $0.70.

Lear (NYSE: LEA) 17.6% HIGHER; reports Q1 earnings of $1.00 per share, which may not comapre to the consensus of $0.48. Revenues came in at $3.9 bilion, versus the consensus of $3.59 billion. Sees FY08 revenues of $15.5 billion, versus prior view of $15 billion and the consensus of $15.06 billion.

Fresh Del Monte (NYSE: FDP) 16.8% LOWER; reports Q1 earnings of $1.07 per share, 5 cents better than estimates. Revenues came in at $894.9 million, versus the consensus of $902.9 million.

Northwest Airlines (NYSE: NWA) 17.3% HIGHER; airline stocks are rallying today on falling oil prices. A barrel of light, sweet crude fell almost 3 1/2 bucks to around $115 to close today's trading session.

Cognex (Nasdaq: CGNX) 12.7% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.21, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.17. Revenues for the quarter were $60.5 million, versus the consensus of $59.90 million. Sees Q2 EPS of $0.20-$0.24, versus the consensus of $0.20.

Angiotech Pharm (Nasdaq: ANPI) 11.3% HIGHER; reports Q1 loss of $0.05 per share, ex-items, below the consensus of a $0.03 loss. Revenues came in at $76.7 million, versus the consensus of $72 million.
