Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 11/11: OPTR, TMA, HQS, HZO Higher; GGP, DSL, SGMO, GNW Lower

Optimer Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPTR) 87.6% HIGHER; released positive top-line results from a pivotal Phase 3 clinical study of the Company's lead anti-infective drug candidate, OPT-80, in patients with Clostridium difficile Infection.

General Growth Properties (NYSE: GGP) 69.4% LOWER; in a Form 10Q announced that it may not be able to refinance or reschedule loans due December 1, due to the credit crisis. Also disclosed that it may fail to rearrange $3 billion in debt maturing next year.

Downey Financial (NYSE: DSL) 62% LOWER; in a Form 10Q, disclosed that it may be seized by regulators before the end of the year if it cannot raise more capital soon.

Sangamo Biosciences Inc. (Nasdaq: SGMO) 60.3% LOWER; announced after the close yesterday that the company's nerve drug failed in a mid-stage study. Sangamo released top-line data from one of three Phase 2 clinical studies of its from its ZFP Therapeutic program to develop SB-509 for diabetic neuropathy showed no significant differences versus placebo. The company said the data did demonstrate that repeat administration of the drug is well tolerated. Following the news, Piper Jaffray downgraded the shares to Sell, saying the therapuetic potential of ZFPs is now in question.

Genworth Financial, Inc. (NYSE: GNW) 53.3% LOWER; Moody's downgraded the company's senior debt from A2 to Baa1 as well as the insurance financial strength ratings of the company's primary life insurance operating subsidiaries, to A1 from Aa3. As a result, Genworth can no longer access the Fed's commercial paper window.

Focus Media Holding Ltd. (Nasdaq: FMCN) 49.2% LOWER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.53, versus the consensus of $0.57. Revenues rose 63.7% to $224.8 million, below the consensus of $248.4 million. For Q4, Focus Media sees EPS of $0.45-$0.46, versus the consensus of $0.57 and revenues of $190-$200 million, versus the consensus of $248.5 million. The stock was downgraded by numerous analyst firms: Oppenheimer to Perform, Susquehanna to Neutral, Citi to Hold, and Goldman to Neutral.

Thornburg Mortgage Inc. (NYSE: TMA) 37.3% HIGHER; posts a profit in Q3. TMA had a $594.6 million fair value gain related to the Senior Subordinated Secured Notes due 2015 and $160.2 million fair value gain related to the Principal Participation Agreement and Additional Warrant Liability.

HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. (AMEX: HQS) 34.7% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.43, 7 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.36. Revenue for the quarter was $22.5 million, versus the consensus of $22.90 million.

MarineMax, Inc. (NYSE: HZO) 24.8% HIGHER; reports Q4 loss of $0.51, ex-items, 9 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.60. Revenue for the quarter was $165.6 million, versus the consensus of $165.10 million.

Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: CCO) 24.4% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.06, 7 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.13. Revenue for the quarter was $813.4 million, versus the consensus of $837.76 million.

Hospitality Properties Trust (NYSE: HPT) 20.9% HIGHER; reports Q3 FFO of $1.06, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $1.03. Revenue for the quarter was $312.58 million, versus the consensus of $335.22 million.
