Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 10/29: LVS, LAD, CT, MF Higher; CTS, WXS, VPRT, WSM Lower
Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) 75% HIGHER; after opening today's trading session only about 6% higher, the stock continues to surge moving into the afternoon trading session. With shares of Las Vegas Sands down 88% since the beginning of October, it seems safe to bet that today's move is the result of a massive short squeeze. Stocks in the gaming industry may be trading higher today on MGM MIRAGE earnings, which were reported this morning before the market opened.
Lithia Motors, Inc. (NYSE: LAD) 51.3% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.09, 1 cent lower than the analyst estimate of $0.10. Revenue for the quarter was $563 million, versus the consensus of $688.47 million.
Capital Trust, Inc. (NYSE: CT) 36.4% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.61, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.59.
MF Global Ltd. (NYSE: MF) 33.3% HIGHER; reports preliminary Q2 sales in the range of $365-$375 million, versus the consensus of $367.58 million and EPS of $0.13-$0.15, versus the consensus of $0.21. The company also announced the appointment of Bernard Dan, its current President and COO, to the position of CEO.
Wynn Resorts (Nasdaq: WYNN) 32.6% HIGHER; trading higher on MGM MIRAGE earnings and Las Vegas Sands 75%+ surge. MGM MIRAGE (NYSE: MGM) is also up about 31%.
CTS Corporation (NYSE: CTS) 31.4% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.16, ex-items, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.16. Revenue for the quarter was $170 million, versus the consensus of $180.12 million.
Denny's Corporation (Nasdaq: DENN) 31.2% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.11, 4 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.07. Revenue for the quarter was $189.3 million, versus the consensus of $188.20 million. The stock was also upgraded at Merriman Curhan Ford to Buy.
Wright Express Corporation (NYSE: WXS) 26.5% LOWER; reports Q3 non-GAAP EPS of $0.55, 1 cent lower than the analyst estimate of $0.56. Revenue for the quarter was $108.5 million, versus the consensus of $110.67 million. Sees Q4 sales of $81-$87 million, versus the consensus of $107.96 million, and EPS of $0.32-$0.37, versus the Street estimate of $0.55. For FY08, sales are expected to be $394-$400 million, versus the consensus of $423.47 million and EPS in the range of $1.86-$1.91, versus the Street estimate of $2.12.
VistaPrint (Nasdaq: VPRT) 25.9% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.30, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.28. Revenue for the quarter was $114.2 million, versus the consensus of $114.37 million. VistaPrint sees FY09 EPS $1.36 to $1.40 versus consensus of $1.54. Sees revenue for FY09 revenue between $475 million-$515 million versus $545.6 million.
Williams-Sonoma (NYSE: WSM) 22.5% LOWER; sees Q3 revenues of $732-$742 million, versus its prior guidance of $802-$820 million and the consensus of $805.8 million. The company sees a Q3 loss of ($0.12)-($0.10) versus prior guidance of a profit of $0.00-$0.04 and the consensus of $0.00. For the year, Williams-Sonoma sees revenues of $3.274-$3.344 billion, versus its prior guidance of $3.572-$3.638 billion and the consensus of $3.59 billion. The company sees FY Non-GAAP EPS of $0.11-$0.33, versus prior guidance of $0.89-$1.01 and the consensus of $0.90.
Sealed Air (NYSE: SEE) 22.5% LOWER; reports Q3 ex-items of $0.28, 11 cents below the analyst estimate of $0.39. Revenue for the quarter was $1.22 billion, versus the consensus of $1.26 billion. Sealed Air sees FY08 EPS $1.35 to $1.45 versus consensus of $1.56.
