Shaw Group (NYSE: SHAW) 55.3% HIGHER; CB&I and Shaw entered a definitive agreement whereby CB&I will acquire Shaw for $46.00 per share in cash and stock. Shareholders will receive $41.00 in cash and $5.00 in CB&I equity (0.12883 shares based on an agreed upon recent average stock price of $38.81 per share) for each share of Shaw stock at closing.
Progenics Pharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: PGNX) 48.6% LOWER; Salix Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. and Progenics announced they received a CRL from the U.S. FDA following its review of a Supplemental New Drug Application (sNDA) for RELISTOR ® (methylnaltrexone bromide) injection for subcutaneous use for the treatment of opioid-induced constipation (OIC) in adult patients with chronic, non-cancer pain.
Acura Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ACUR) 35.4% LOWER; announced late Friday that Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE) provided notice on July 26, 2012 that it is exercising its right to terminate the license to three development stage products using Acura's AVERSION Technology and return such products to Acura.
VirnetX (AMEX: VHC) 18.0% HIGHER; moving higher after the ITC posted the company's Petition for Review of Order No. 15 and Appeal of Order No. 14, meaning no procedural error was VirnetX's fault in the transfer of SAIC's (NYSE: SAI) patent portfolio. For more, click here.
Lufkin Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: LUFK) 20.8% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.66, $0.16 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.82. Revenue for the quarter came in at $305.6 million versus the consensus estimate of $307.81 million. Lufkin sees Q3 2012 EPS of $0.70-$0.80, versus the consensus of $1.09 and revenue of $330 million - $340 million, versus the consensus of $341.2 million. Sees FY2012 EPS of $3.00-$3.20, versus prior guidance of $3.75-$4.05 and the consensus of $3.74 and revenue of $1.25 billion - $1.27 billion, versus prior guidance of $1.25 billion - $1.30 billion and the consensus of $1.28 billion.
Sarepta Therapeutics (Nasdaq: SRPT) 16.3% HIGHER; stock continuing higher following strong trial results last week. Shares were up nearly 150 percent on Tuesday of last week. The stock is up nearly 30 percent since mid-day Thursday after some profit taking on Wednesday. Shares are over $9 this morning. We are hearing a mention as "Pick of the Week" by one notable trader could be giving a lift to the stock.
TGC Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: TGE) 15.3% LOWER; reported Q2 GAAP loss of $0.10 per share, $0.19 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.09. Revenue for the quarter came in at $30.4 million versus the consensus estimate of $37.77 million.
ATP Oil & Gas (Nasdaq: ATPG) 15.0% HIGHER; Isramco Negev 2 LP reported flow rates for the Shimshon well offshore Israel. Isramco holds a 39 percent stake in Shimshon while ATP holds 40 percent. Isramco said Shimshon was flowing at 40.2 million cubic feet per day following a 54-hour test.
CB&I (NYSE: CBI) 14.6% LOWER; trading lower amid the $46 per share bid for Shaw Group.
Trimas Corp. (Nasdaq: TRS) 14.4% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.61, $0.06 better than the analyst estimate of $0.55. Revenue for the quarter came in at $338.4 million versus the consensus estimate of $324.23 million. Trimas raised its 2012 sales outlook from an increase of 7% to 10% to a range of 10% to 14% compared to 2011.
Green Dot (NYSE: GDOT) 11.3% HIGHER; recovering after getting slammed last Friday on weak Q2 numbers and guidance. Shares ended about 61 percent lower on the session last Friday.
