NEI (Nasdaq: NEI) 81.7% HIGHER; announced today that it has signed a definitive merger agreement with UNICOM Systems, Inc. and a new UNICOM subsidiary under which UNICOM, will acquire NEI for $1.45 per common share in cash.
Galena Biopharma (Nasdaq: GALE) 20.9% HIGHER; continuing a late-day move higher yesterday. The stock closed up 7.5 percent. Shares are over $1.40 today.

The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc. (Nasdaq: BONT) 12.9% HIGHER; Alliance Data Systems Corporation (NYSE: ADS), announced its Retail Services business has agreed to acquire the private label credit card portfolio of The Bon-Ton Stores for $475 million.
J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) 10.1% LOWER; today announced that Michael Francis will be leaving the Company, effective today. Chief Executive Officer Ron Johnson will assume direct responsibility and oversight of the company's marketing and merchandising functions.
Affymetrix Inc., (Nasdaq: AFFX) 10.2% LOWER; announced that it intends to offer, subject to market and other considerations, $105 million aggregate principal amount of unsecured Convertible Senior Notes due 2019. The offering is being made pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement on Form S-3 previously filed with the SEC and a prospectus supplement filed with the SEC today. Affymetrix also expects to grant the underwriters an option to purchase up to $10 million aggregate principal amount of additional notes on the same terms and conditions, solely to cover over-allotments, if any.
