Affymax, Inc. (Nasdaq: AFFY) 85.5% LOWER; slammed today after it and Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited decided to voluntarily recall all lots of OMONTYS Injection to the user level as a result of new postmarketing reports regarding serious hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis, which can be life-threatening or fatal.

Central European Distribution (Nasdaq: CEDC) 57.0% LOWER; no specific news is out on the stock today, though Central European Distribution entered a non-disclosure agreement with W & L Enterprises last week. Click here for more color.

EntreMed Inc. (Nasdaq: ENMD) 24.2% HIGHER; biotech names are active on the session given Affymax news today.

Dynavax Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: DVAX) 32.0% LOWER; announced Monday that it received a Complete Response Letter (CRL) from the FDA regarding its Biologic License Application (BLA) for HEPLISAV, an investigational adult hepatitis B vaccine.

Global Geophysical Services (NYSE: GGS) 31.1% LOWER; reported Q4 EPS of ($0.76), which may not compare with the analyst estimate of $0.13. Revenue for the quarter came in at $55.3 million versus the consensus estimate of $95.94 million. EBITDA in the quarter was 42 cents per share.

Galectin Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: GALT) 19.8% HIGHER; another biotech on the move today. Shares are showing some strength above the $3.50 level.

Venaxis (Nasdaq: APPY) 16.7% HIGHER; moving higher as Canaccord Genuity upgraded the stock from Hold to Buy, more than doubling its price target from $2.50 up to $7.

ITT Educational Services (NYSE: ESI) 14.2% LOWER; filed its 10-K with the U.S. SEC late last Friday. For more color, click here.

Barnes & Noble, Inc. (NYSE: BKS) 12.9% HIGHER; Chairman Leonard Riggio filed an amended 13D with the U.S. SEC on Monday. In part, the 13D disclosed: On February 25, 2013, Mr. Riggio notified the Board of Directors of the Company (the “Board”) he plans to propose to purchase all of the assets of the retail business of the Company. The retail business would include, among other things, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Inc. and barnesandnoble.com; and would exclude NOOK Media LLC (comprising the digital and College businesses). Mr. Riggio plans to make the proposal in order to facilitate the Company’s evaluation of its previously announced review of strategic options for the separation of its investment in NOOK Media LLC.
