OXiGENE, Inc. (Nasdaq: OXGN) 26% HIGHER; announced that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has granted orphan drug designation for ZYBRESTAT® (fosbretabulin tromethamine) for the treatment of ovarian cancer. Orphan drug designation in the European Union (EU) is given to products that are designed for the diagnosis, prevention or treatment of rare diseases that are life-threatening or very serious. A disease is defined as rare in the EU if it affects fewer than five in 10,000 people. Granting of orphan drug designation in the EU provides companies with development and commercial incentives, including a period of market exclusivity, access to a centralized review process, protocol assistance (scientific advice) and waiving of marketing and post-marketing authorization fees.

Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (NASDAQ: ISRG) 14% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $3.90, $0.14 worse than the analyst estimate of $4.04. Revenue for the quarter came in at $579 million versus the consensus estimate of $594.58 million. Intuitive Surgical sees full year revenues unchanged to up 7%, which is below Wall Street views of up 14%. The company sees procedures up 15-18%, versus its prior outlook of 20-23%. Intuitive Surgical also said it received an FDA warning letter after inspection.

Community Health (NYSE: CYH) 9.4% LOWER; previewed Q2 results. They also announced the Department of Justice's investigation of Medicare short-stay admissions continues.

Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) 9% LOWER; reported Q4 EPS of $0.66, $0.09 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.75. Revenue for the quarter came in at $19.9 billion versus the consensus estimate of $20.73 billion.

ICU Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ: ICUI) 8.7% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.48, $0.18 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.66. Revenue for the quarter came in at $78.7 million versus the consensus estimate of $83.43 million. ICU Medical, Inc. sees FY2013 EPS of $2.50-2.60, versus prior guidance of $2.70-2.85 and the consensus of $2.81. ICU Medical, Inc. sees FY2013 revenue of $320-325 million, versus prior guidance of $330-337 million and the consensus of $333.64 million.

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. (NASDAQ: SWKS) 7.9% HIGHER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.54, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $0.53. Revenue for the quarter came in at $436.1 million versus the consensus estimate of $435.4 million. "Given new program launches and an expanding product pipeline, we expect a strong second half to 2013,” said Donald W. Palette, vice president and chief financial officer of Skyworks. “Specifically, for the current quarter, we anticipate revenue of $475 million, gross margin expansion to the 44.0 to 44.5 percent range and $0.62 of diluted earnings per share, each on a non-GAAP basis.” (Street sees Q4 EPS of $0.60 on revenue of $470.08 million). Upgraded at Needham & Company

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD) 7% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of ($0.09), $0.04 better than the analyst estimate of ($0.13). Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.16 billion versus the consensus estimate of $1.11 billion. For the third quarter of 2013, AMD expects revenue to increase 22 percent, plus or minus 3 percent, sequentially. Multiple downgrades.

Astex Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: ASTX) 6.8% HIGHER; Brean Capital initiated coverage on with a Buy rating and a price target of $13.00. Analyst Gene Mack thinks SGI-110 has $1 billion potential.

Align Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALGN) 5.9% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.36, $0.08 better than the analyst estimate of $0.28. Revenue for the quarter came in at $163.8 million versus the consensus estimate of $156.13 million. Align Technology, Inc. sees FY2013 EPS of $0.28-0.30, versus the consensus of $0.31. Align Technology, Inc. sees FY2013 revenue of $154.9-160 million, versus the consensus of $155.86 million.

OpenTable (NASDAQ: OPEN) 4.5% LOWER; Yelp Inc. (NYSE: YELP) announced it has agreed to acquire SeatMe, Inc, a web and iPad-app based reservation solution for the restaurant and nightlife categories.

BioCryst Pharma (NASDAQ: BCRX) 3.9% HIGHER; JMP Securities upgraded from Market Perform to Market Outperform with a price target of $3.00.

Google, Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) 3.8% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $9.56, $1.22 worse than the analyst estimate of $10.78. Revenue for the quarter came in at $14.11 billion versus the consensus estimate of $14.42 billion.

Hologic, Inc. (NASDAQ: HOLX) 3.8% HIGHER; announced today Jack W. Cumming has been named President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Mr. Cumming joined Hologic in 2001 and served as Chief Executive Officer from 2001 to 2009.

Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) 3.8% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $2.82, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $2.81. Revenue for the quarter came in at $816.8 million versus the consensus estimate of $802.8 million.

Schlumberger Ltd. (NYSE: SLB) 3.5% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $1.15, $0.04 better than the analyst estimate of $1.11. Revenue for the quarter came in at $11.18 billion versus the consensus estimate of $11.15 billion.

MBIA, Inc. (NYSE: MBI) 3% LOWER; after Detroit filed bankruptcy.

Baker Hughes, Inc. (NYSE: BHI) 2.8% LOWER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.61, ex-items, $0.04 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.65. Revenue for the quarter came in at $5.49 billion versus the consensus estimate of $5.26 billion.

General Electric (NYSE: GE) 2% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.36, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $0.35. Revenue for the quarter came in at $35.12 billion versus the consensus estimate of $35.58 billion.

Apache Corporation (NYSE, Nasdaq: APA) 2% HIGHER; agreed to sell its Gulf of Mexico Shelf operations and properties to Fieldwood Energy LLC (Fieldwood), an affiliate of Riverstone Holdings, for cash proceeds of $3.75 billion. In addition, Fieldwood will assume all asset retirement obligations for these properties, which, as of June 30, 2013, Apache estimated at a discounted value of approximately $1.5 billion. Apache will retain 50 percent of its ownership interest in all exploration blocks and in horizons below production in developed blocks, where high-potential deep hydrocarbon plays are being tested.

Honeywell (NYSE: HON) 1.7% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $1.28, $0.07 better than the analyst estimate of $1.21. Revenue for the quarter came in at $9.44 billion versus the consensus estimate of $9.7 billion.

Capital One Financial Corp. (NYSE: COF) 1.4% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $1.87, $0.15 better than the analyst estimate of $1.72. Revenue for the quarter came in at $5.6 billion versus the consensus estimate of $5.53 billion.

Cubist Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBST) 1.2% HIGHER; reported Q2 EPS of $0.42, $0.04 better than the analyst estimate of $0.38. Revenue for the quarter came in at $258.8 million versus the consensus estimate of $254.93 million.

Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) 0.9% LOWER; a Japan Airline Boeing 787 headed for Tokyo returned to Boston for maintenance.
