The following is a list of stocks crossing above or below the 50-day simple moving average (SMA), a near-term indicator of potential uptrends and downtrends. The report also gives the current movement of the stocks.

Crossing above:
  • Alcoa, Inc. (NYSE: AA) - up 1.1 percent. Trying to break above $9 ahead of EPS next week;
  • Arch Coal (NYSE: ACI) - up 0.7 percent. Trending higher on positive sentiment in the sector;
  • Kohl's Corp. (NYSE: KSS) - up 7.5 percent. reported comps for June. Sees Q2 EPS at low-end of guidance;
  • Weatherford International (NYSE: WFT) - down 1.0 percent. Stuck in the $11.50 to $13 range. Looking to make a move above if oil prices shape up;
  • Target Corp. (NYSE: TGT) - down 0.1 percent. Also reported June comps.
Crossing below:
  • Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) - down 1.2 percent. Pressure in the tech/consumer electronics sector today;
  • EMC Corp. (NYSE: EMC) - down 1.0 percent. Oppenheimer lowered estimates earlier;
  • Windstream Corp. (Nasdaq: WIN) - down 0.6 percent. Butting up against $9.80 level. A strong move above might signal a trend here.;
  • First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE: FHN) - down 2.8 percent. Coming off of a head-and-shoulders pattern, might be finding support at $8.50. Volume has been strong on the move higher recently; and
  • The Charles Schwab Corp. (NYSE: SCHW) - down 1.1 percent. Has also been stick in a range of $12 to $13. Looking back to last August - October, $12.50 appeared to be a resistance level.
