Stocks Crossing 50-Day SMA 08/15: (LOW) (GME) (PAY) Above; (UNG) (NCR) (AXP) Below

The following is a list of stocks crossing the 50-day simple moving average (SMA) and are either above or below the metric. The 50-day is considered an indicator of a potential near-term trend formation.

Crossing and above:
  • Lowe's Companies Inc. (NYSE: LOW) - up 1.2 percent. Moving higher on continued sentiment from Home Depot's (NYSE: HD) results Tuesday morning. Barclays also issued some comments ahead of Lowe's Q2 results, expected out on August 20th.

  • GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) - up 0.5 percent. Moving around into its second-quarter results, which are expected to be released before U.S. markets open Thursday. Shares have moved well off of annual lows hit in early August as sentiment slowly returns to the gaming segment.

  • VeriFone Systems, Inc. (NYSE: PAY) - up 0.2 percent. Modestly higher today after announcing that its Point Group has won its largest to date payments-as-a-service (PaaS) contract, with an agreement to supply Finland’s S Group a complete range of payments services in its 1,600 locations.
Crossing and below:
  • United States Natural Gas (NYSE: UNG) - down 2.6 percent. Nat gas lower as cooler weather for much of the U.S. appears to be in the forecast. Chillier weather will lead to less households turning up the A/C, potentially building up already high stockpiles.

  • NCR Corp. (NYSE: NCR) - down 2.2 percent. Continuing lower after disclosing possible PCPA violations Tuesday.

  • American Express Co. (NYSE: AXP) - down 1.1 percent. Reported flat delinquency rates in the U.S. for July. According to data from the company, 30 days past due loans as a % of total - 1.2 percent across the board for May, June, and July 2012.
