Pre-Open Movers 5/22: Evergreen Solar (ESLR) Surges On $1B Contracts; Blue Coat (BCSI) On Earnings Miss

Evergreen Solar Inc. (Nasdaq: ESLR) 25% HIGHER; Signs $1 billion in new sales contracts.

Blue Coat (Nasdaq: BCSI) 24.9% LOWER; reports Q4 earnings of $0.33 per share, ex-items, below the consensus of $0.40. Revenues came in at $88.2 million, versus the consensus of $89.5 million.

Westell Technologies (Nasdaq: WSTL) 16% LOWER; reports a Q4 loss of $0.05, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of ($0.04). Revenues for the quarter were $44.7 million, versus the consensus of $45 million. Sees Q1 revs of $39-$41 million, versus the consensus of $50.3 million and sees a Q1 loss of $0.08-$0.09, versus ($0.01).

Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. (NYSE: DKS) 15% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.18, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.18. Revenues for the quarter were $912.1 million, versus the consensus of $925.84 million. Sees Q2 EPS of $0.34-$0.38, versus the consensus of $0.43. Dick's sees Q2 same store sales decreasing 4-7%. For the FY08, Dick's expects EPS in the range of $1.22-$1.36, compared to FY07 EPS of $1.33. Same store sales are expected to decrease 3-5% over the year. Dick's expects to open approximately 44 new Dick's Sporting Goods stores, ten new Golf Galaxy stores and relocate one Dick's store in 2008.

Barrier Therapeutics Inc. (Nasdaq: BTRX) 12% HIGHER; Announces Agreement with Procter & Gamble to Market Xolegel (ketoconazole, USP) Gel, 2 Percent With Head & Shoulders Shampoo as Xolegel Duo

NetApp, Inc. (Nasdaq: NTAP) 10% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.38, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.36. Revenues for the quarter were $938 million, versus the consensus of $938.11 million. Sees Q1 20-23 cents versus 27 cents. Q1 revenues $845 to $875 million versus $871 million. FY08 EPS $1.40 to $1.46 versus $1.43. Sees FY08 $3.79-$3.95 billion versus $3.88 billion. On the call, the CEO said they saw sluggishness in the US.

Global Sources Ltd. (Nasdaq: GSOL) 9% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.14, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.11. Revenues for the quarter were $40.6 million, versus the consensus of $39.90 million. Sees Q2 revs in the range of $62-$63 million, versus the Street consensus of $61.50 million. Non-GAAP EPS are expected to be $0.33-$0.35, versus $0.20.

Nordson (Nasdaq: NDSN) 9% HIGHER; reports Q EPS of $0.97, 14 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.83. Revenues for the quarter were $294.1 million, versus the consensus of $279.53 million. Sees Q3 EPS of $0.91-$1.01, versus the consensus of $0.81. Sees Q3 sales up 13-17%.

Calpine Corporation (NYSE: CPN) 8.5% HIGHER; NRG Energy, Inc. (NYSE: NRG) confirmed they made an offer to acquire Calpine in a stock deal worth approximately $23 per Calpine share as of May 14, 2008. The proposed fixed exchange ratio would be 0.534 NRG shares for each Calpine share.

Suntech Power (NYSE: STP) 6.8% HIGHER; reports Q1 earnings of $0.35 per share, ex-items, above the consensus of $0.27. Revenues came in at $434.5 million, versus the consensus of $377 million. Sees for Q2 revenues of $430-$440 million, versus the consensus of $427.7 million. Sees Q2 non-GAAP gross margin consistent with Q1.

Children's Place (Nasdaq: PLCE) 6% HIGHER; reports Q1 earnings of $0.66 per share, above the consensus of $0.50. Revenues came in at $400.2 million, versus the consensus of $396.8 million. During the quarter, Children's Place exited the Disney Store business at cash costs that are expected to be at the low end of our previously disclosed range of $50 million to $100 million.

GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) 6% LOWER; Reports Q1 EPS of $0.37, 2 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.35. Revenues for the quarter were $1.813 billion, versus the consensus of $1.72 billion. GameStop sees Q2 EPS in the range of $0.26-$0.28, versus the Street consensus of $0.26. The company also raised its FY08 EPS outlook to $2.30-$2.39, versus $2.33. Same store sales for Q2 are expected to be in the range of +12-14% and +10-12% for FY08. GameStop also said that it expects FY09 EPS growth of at least 25%.

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc (NYSE: JTX) 6% LOWER; cuts full-year guidance. Jackson Hewitt now sees FY08 EPS of $1.34-$1.39 versus the consensus of $1.51. Sees FY08 revenue of $282 million to $292 million versus consensus of $278.33 million.

Encore Acquisition Company (NYSE: EAC) 5% HIGHER; said its Board of Directors has authorized the Company’s management team to explore a broad range of strategic alternatives to further enhance shareholder value, including, but not limited to, a sale or merger of the Company.

Flowers Foods (NYSE: FLO) 5% HIGHER; reports Q1 earnings of $0.39 per share, 4 cents better than estimates. Revenues came in at $676.7 million, versus the consensus of $666.5 million. Sees FY08 EPS of $1.15-$1.23 versus prior guidance of $1.07-$1.17 and the consensus of $1.14. Sees FY08 revenue of $2.22-$2.27 billion, versus the consensus of $2.23 billion.

Akamai Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM) 5% LOWER; Goldman downgrades to Sell

AMR Corporation (NYSE: AMR) 4.6% LOWER; Bounces after falling 24% today.

Longs Drug Stores (NYSE: LDG) 4% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.63, 3 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.60. Revenues for the quarter were $1.41 billion, versus the consensus of $1.39 billion. Sees FY09 EPS of $3.02-$3.12, versus the consensus of $3.06.

Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE: RAD) 4% LOWER; plans to offer $150 million aggregate principal amount of convertible notes due 2015, pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement previously filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission

Solarfun Power Holdings Co. Ltd. (Nasdaq: SOLF) 4.3% LOWER; Goldman downgrades from Neutral to Sell, saying valuation is unwarranted.

TBS International Limited (Nasdaq: TBSI) 3% LOWER; priced a 3.4 million share secondary at $51. Banc of America and Jefferies led the offering.

Lehman Brothers (NYSE: LEH) 2.3% LOWER; Ladenburg Thalmann cuts to Sell

Salesforce.com, Inc. (NYSE: CRM) 2.6% LOWER; reports Q1 EPS of $0.08, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.07. Revenues for the quarter were $247.6 million, versus the consensus of $235.84 million. Sees Q2 EPS of $0.07-$0.08, versus the consensus of $0.08. Sees Q2 revs of $258-$259 million, versus $250.8 million. Sees FY08 EPS of $0.33-$0.34, versus $0.34 and revs of $1.06-$1.065 billion, versus $1.05 billion.
