Pre-Open Movers 03/04: Jackson Hewitt (JTX) Sinks On Results/Guidance, Barr Pharmaceuticals (BRL) Higher on Patent Case Victory

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Inc. (NYSE: JTX) 23% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.61, which may not compare to the consensus of $0.99. Revenues came in at $97.6 million, versus the consensus of $118.35 million. Sees FY adjusted EPS of $1.48-$1.60, which may not compare to the consensus of $2.08. Sees FY revenues of $282-$292 million, versus the consensus of $309.9 million.

Questcor Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AMEX: QSC) 17.3% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.45 compared to a $0.06 loss for the same period last year. Revenues were $27.1 million for Q4 compared to $3.4 million for the same period last year. Separately, the QSC board approves the repurchase plan for up to 7 million shares.

Obagi Medical Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: OMPI) 12% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.21, cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.. Revenues for the quarter were $27.3 million, versus the consensus of $ million. Sees FY08 EPS in the range of $0.94-$0.98 and sales of $120-$125 million. The Street estimates are $0.98 and $127.65 million, respectively.

Clearwire Corporation (Nasdaq: CLWR) 10% LOWER; reported Q4 revenues of $45.4 million, versus the consensus of $46 million. Adjusted EBITA reflected a loss of $83.1 million. Clearwire sees 2008 revenues of $205-$215 million, versus the consensus of $270.8 million. Sees 2008 subscribers of 510-530K.

Barnes & Noble (NYSE: BKS) 9% LOWER; reports Q4 revenues of $1.51 billion, versus the consensus of $1.84 billion. Same store sales fell 0.5% during the quarter. Sees Q4 EPS, excluding items, of $1.57-$1.76. The Street estimate is $1.71. FY08 EPS are expected to be in the range of $1.70-$1.90, versus the consensus of $1.88.

Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NYSE: BRL) 9% HIGHER; wins patent dispute on contraceptive Yasmin over Bayer

PMI Group Inc. (NYSE: PMI) 8% LOWER; sees large loss for U.S. Mortgage Insurance and International Operations.

Trina Solar Ltd. (NYSE: TSL) 8% HIGHER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.62, above the consensus of $0.49. Revenues came in at $101.4 million, versus the consensus of $95.6 million. Trina Solar sees Q1 revenues of $112-$120 million, versus the consensus of $115.9 million.

Salix Pharmaceuticals, Inc (Nasdaq: SLXP) 8.4% LOWER; reports a Q4 loss of $0.40, which may not compare to the analyst estimate of $0.30. Revenues for the quarter were $71.554 million, versus the consensus of $67.77 million

Barr Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NYSE: BRL) 7.3% HIGHER; announced that the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey has ruled in favor of its subsidiary, Barr Laboratories, Inc., in the challenge of the patent listed by Bayer Schering Pharma, AG in connection with Bayer Schering's Yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) oral contraceptive.

SanDisk Corp. (Nasdaq: SNDK) 5% LOWER; Lower margin guidance from Intel.

Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS) 3% LOWER; reports Q4 EPS of $0.47, in-line with the consensus. Revenues came in at $5.32 billion, versus the consensus of $5.37 billion. Sees 2008 EPS up high single-digits. Sees 2008 revenues up mid single-digits

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) 2% LOWER; lowered its first-quarter gross margin forecast to 54 percent, plus or minus a point, as compared to the previous forecast of 56 percent, plus or minus a couple of points, due to lower than expected prices for NAND flash memory chips.
