Pre-Open Movers: PeopleSupport (PSPT) Higher On Buyout; Advanced Medical Optics (EYE) Lower on Results

PeopleSupport, Inc. (Nasdaq: PSPT) 25% HIGHER; Aegis BPO and PeopleSupport, Inc. (Nasdaq: PSPT) announced a definitive agreement to merge through Essar Services (Mauritius), its wholly owned subsidiary, through a cash transaction with an aggregate equity value of approximately $250 million. This strategic combination has been unanimously approved by the Boards of Directors of both companies. Under the terms of the agreement, Aegis BPO will pay PeopleSupport stockholders $12.25 per share in cash.
Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. (NYSE: EYE) 12% LOWER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.24, ex-items, 3 cents lower than the analyst estimate of $0.27. Revenues for the quarter were $320.5 million, versus the consensus of $307.69 million. Lowers its previously issued FY08 EPS guidance from $1.25-$1.45 to $1.00-$1.15, versus the consensus of $1.20. Sales for FY08 are expected to be in the range of $1.22-$1.24 billion, versus $1.23 billion.

Louisiana-Pacific Corp. (NYSE: LPX) 7% LOWER; suspends quarterly dividend
Humana (NYSE: HUM) 7% HIGHER; reports Q2 earnings of $1.24 per share, above the consensus of $1.18. Revenues came in at $7.35 billion, versus the consensus of $7.14 billion. Sees Q3 EPS of $1.45-$1.50 versus the consensus of $1.36. Sees FY08 EPS of $4.30-$4.40 versus the consensus of $4.20.
STEC, Inc. (Nasdaq: STEC) 5% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.09, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.08. Revenues for the quarter were $56.2 million, versus the consensus of $53.15 million. Sees Q3 revs in the range of $61-$63 million, versus the consensus of $59.43 million. Non-GAAP EPS are are expected to be $0.10-$0.11, versus the consensus of $0.10.
