Notable Mergers and Acquisitions of the Day 5/14 (SJM/CAG, STJ/EPMD)

  • The J. M. Smucker Company (NYSE: SJM) today announced that it has acquired the Knott's Berry Farm(R) food brand from ConAgra Foods, Inc. (NYSE: CAG).

    Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

    The acquired business is expected to add approximately $40 million in annual net sales for Smucker. Production will be transitioned to Smucker's manufacturing facilities over the next four months.

  • St. Jude Medical, Inc. (NYSE: STJ) and EP MedSystems (Nasdaq: EPMD) announced that the Boards of Directors of both companies have unanimously approved a definitive agreement whereby St. Jude Medical will acquire all of the issued and outstanding stock of EP MedSystems for $3.00 per share payable in a combination of cash and St. Jude Medical stock, for a total of approximately $92 million.
