  • Pfizer (NYSE: PFE) Animal Health today announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire multiple product franchises from Schering-Plough Corporation (NYSE: SGP) covering all major animal health species including cattle, swine, equine, and companion animal.

  • Triarc Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRY), the franchisor of the Arby's restaurant system, and Wendy's International, Inc. (NYSE: WEN) announced they have signed a definitive merger agreement, which has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies, for an all-stock transaction in which Wendy's shareholders will receive a fixed ratio of 4.25 shares of Triarc Class A Common Stock for each share of Wendy's common stock they own. Woohoo! About Time!

  • The Middleby Corporation (NASDAQ: MIDD) announced it has acquired the net assets and related business operations of FriFri aro SA from the Franke Group. FriFri is a leading European manufacturer of frying systems. This business, located in La Neuveville, Switzerland, had annual revenues of approximately $10 million in 2007. This acquisition expands Middleby's platform of cooking equipment designed for the international markets.
