  • According to reports from the New York Times, JPMorgan (NYSE: JPM) was in talks this weekend to raise its offer for Bear Stearns (NYSE: BSC), citing people familiar with the matter.

    The paper said JPMorgan may be willing to pay $10 per share for Bear, up from the initial $2 offer that shocked Wall Street last weekend.

  • Marathon Acquisition Corp. (AMEX: MAQ) announced that Global Ship Lease will access the public equity markets through a merger with Marathon valued at approximately $1 billion pursuant to an agreement and plan of merger. Global Ship Lease is a rapidly growing containership charter owner currently a subsidiary of CMA CGM S.A. of France ("CMA CGM"), the world's third largest container shipping company.

  • L-1 Identity Solutions, Inc. (NYSE: ID) entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the ID Systems business of Digimarc Corporation (Nasdaq: DMRC) in a stock and cash transaction valued at approximately $250 million.
