Notable ETF Movers of the Day 11/28: (TAN) (XRT) Higher; (GLD) Lower

November 28, 2012 3:55 PM EST
Gainers:

Guggenheim Solar (NYSE: TAN) gained 5.5 percent to 14.1. Several solar companies reported earnings today, including Yingli Green Energy (NYSE: YGE) and Ja Solar (Nasdaq: JASO). Apparently investors liked what they saw, as stocks gained 13 percent and 5 percent respectively, though on the surface the reports were far from stellar.

SPDR S&P Retail (NYSE: XRT) gained 1.7 percent to 63.8. Several retailers including American Eagle (NYSE: AEO) and ANN (NYSE: ANN) reported earnings today, lifting stocks in the sectors, as results were solid.

Decliners:

SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE: GLD) declined 1.3 percent to 166.5. The decline came as the spot price dropped in early trading. Later reports tied the decline to large liquidations of profitable positions, though technical trading no doubt played a factor. Since dropping this morning, gold has stabilized near $1715 per ounce.
