Notable ETF Movers of the Day 09/16: (UUP) (SLV) (SPY) Higher; (USO (VXX) (TAN) Lower

- PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (NYSE: UUP) up 0.46 percent to $21.76. U of Michigan consumer sentiment came in at 57.8, better than the 56.3 expected on the Street. The number was stronger than 55.7 reported in August. Confidence in the U.S. may lead to a stronger economy as more investments flow in as consumers open up wallets just a little bit more. Also, the Fed and ECB hashed out a deal with central banks in Japan, England, and Switzerland to support European banks through the end of the year.
- iShares Silver Trust (NYSE: SLV) up 1.55 percent to $39.39. Though the ECB deal ebbs some European concerns, issues still linger. With gold and silver prices receding sightly, investors are buying the dip as a safe haven until more solidified plans are worked out. Silver December contacts are $1.044 higher to $40.545 on the Comex.
- SPDR S&P 500 (NYSE: SPY) up 0.18 percent to $121.02. Markets are rebounding into positive territory Friday afternoon, as European leaders meet in Warsaw to discuss potential solutions to Europe's debt crisis. The group has said it won't make a decision about whether to fund Greece for another round until October. Otherwise, consumer sentiment data is the only economic data of focus today.
- United States Oil (NYSE: USO) down 1.73 percent to $34.00. European debts concerns are weighing on crude prices. WTI crude is down $1.78 to $87.62 per barrel on the Comex.
- iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (NYSE: VXX) down 0.52 percent to $42.16. The CBOE VIX is 1.9 percent lower, as the market turns positive Friday afternoon. Some may be seeing progress in talks between European finance leaders.
- Guggenheim Solar (NYSE: TAN) down 1.54 percent to $4.48. Being led lower by First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR), which was started by Deutsche Bank at Hold earlier. Shares are 4.5 percent lower on the session as Deutsche sees downside risk to 2012 estimates. Deutsche also started several other solars today, click here for more new coverage issued today.
