Notable ETF Movers of the Day 05/06: GLD/GDX, UUP Up; UNG, RTH, XLF Down

  • SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE: GLD) up 1.70% to $117.05. June 10 contracts of gold are trading up $21.5 today to $1196.5/Troy ounce, about a 1.9% advance. Gold seeing some love as protesters in Greece are heightening investor currency fears. Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE: GDX) is also trading 2.25% higher to $50.35.

  • PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (NYSE: UUP) up 0.57% to $24.75. The U.S. dollar is gaining today as the Euro recedes on uncertainty in the region.

  • United States Natural Gas (NYSE: UNG) down 2.16% to $6.79. The ETF is declining on data today showing that stores of nat gas have increased 83 billion cubic feet, above the consensus estimate of an 80 Bcf increase.

  • Retail HOLDRs (RTH) down 1.14% to $101.96. Shares in the retail sector down as many reported a decrease in comps for April.

  • Financial Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLF) down 1.71% to $15.66. As current and former U.S Treasury secretaries testify in hearings today, financials are feeling pressure over imminent reform.
