Notable ETF Movers of the Day 04/21: (UNG) (EWT) (XLK) Higher; (VXX) (UUP) (KRE) Lower

Gainers
  • United States Natural Gas (NYSE: UNG) up 1.38% percent to $11.38. Nat gas stockpiles increased 47 billion cubic feet, shy of the consensus calling for a 49 - 53 bcf increase. Nat gas May 11 contracts up $0.047 to $4.357 per mmBtu.

  • iShares MSCI Taiwan Index (NYSE: EWT) up 1.63 percent to $15.63. Taiwanese stocks seeing a boom following strong earnings reports from Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) and Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), among other tech giants. Many of the tech companies get parts from the Asia Pacific region.

  • Technology Select Sector SPDR (NYSE: XLK) up 0.65 percent to $26.29. The tech ETF is seeing a strong move today, as its largest holding, Apple, is leading following strong earnings. Apple shares are up 2.3 percent today.

  • iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures ETN (NYSE: VXX) down 1.21 percent to $25.34. The CBOE VIX is trading 0.6 percent lower today, as mixed economic data is sending markets all over the place. Initial claims fell 13K to 403K, but missed the consensus of 390K. Philly Fed came in at 18.5, missing the consensus of 33.0. Leading indicators increased 0.4 percent, topping views, and housing prices for February fell more than in January.

  • PowerShares DB US Dollar Index Bullish (NYSE: UUP) down 0.54 percent to $21.20. The U.S. dollar slipping today following Philly Fed numbers, as the number dropped from 43.4 in March to 18.5 in April.

  • SPDR KBW Regional Banking (NYSE: KRE) down 0.35 percent to $25.80. Led by Cathay General Bancorp (Nasdaq: CATY), which reported Q1 EPS of $0.23, $0.05 better than the analyst estimate of $0.18. Investors seem to be selling the news today, with Cathay shares down 1.99 percent on the day.
