- Semiconductor HOLDRs (NYSE: SMH) up 1.08% to $25.36. Shares advancing as Micron Technology (NYSE: MU) unveiled a new 42-nm DRAM process technology.

- Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF (NYSE: GDX) down 1.89% to $41.61. Despite impressive numbers put up by Rangold Resources (NASDAQ: GOLD) for Q409, miners are feeling a pinch as gold prices have ebbed over the last quarter and investors may not be so sure about next quarter's profits.
- Claymore/MAC Global Solar Energy (NYSE: TAN) 1.63% lower to $8.44. Down after a VIK energy-users group meeting said it would be an "important step" to cut rates earned by solar providers.
